It would be one thing to associate to the photo textures when working on an empty stomach (the tomato photo looks tasty). I think the photo-styles would diminish the value of your world. If you haven't already, check out the game "LittleBigPlanet". It looks effectively-endearing in regard to how well the developers relied on the different materials of the characters and the environment to balance and control the game's universe.
I know I told you earlier but I am definitely going for the painted versions. They fit your world better :)
